Erika

Erika is a beautiful, loving, energetic woman who brings both joy and organization everywhere she goes. She enjoys working for the Reformed Church in America, but she cherishes any time she gets to spend with friends and family, especially playing games, sitting around a fire, or poking fun at bad movies. Her generosity, kindness, and laughter endear her to everyone she meets. She’s wonderful.

Matt is an incredibly bright, fun, and caring man with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, justice, and cute animal videos. He is a software developer for Dematic by day, and a gamer and choral bass by night. Matt’s endless capacity for both wonder at the profound and for glee at the silliness are always with him wherever he goes. He’s pretty awesome.

Erika + Matt

We first met in the fall of 2013, when Erika served as assistant for the director of the Grand Rapids Symphony Chorus. For years we rarely spoke, and Matt mostly thought of Erika as “Pearl’s cute assistant.” In September 2019, we met again at a mutual friend’s birthday party. We had such a fun time together that Erika began inviting Matt to group events. In January Matt finally asked Erika out, and before our first date was even over we had scheduled two more. We managed to bond so well in a few short weeks that even a pandemic couldn’t keep us apart for long. On September 2nd, Matt asked and Erika said yes!
